Fenghuang Bus Station

Fenghuang is a county in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province. The well kept ancient town of Fenghuang has more than 300 years old and it's listed on the UNESCO World Heritage for the unique architectural buildings and cultural transmission.

Means of Transportation to Fenghuang

Fenghuang has no train station. To go to Fenghuang, you can take bus or plane.
Bus is the most popular ground transportation method to go to Fenghuang and direct buses for Fenghuang General Bus Station are available from Jishou, Tongren, Huaihua, Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie, Changsha, Changde, Yiyang, Xiangtan, Zhuzhou, Yueyang, Wuhan, Chongqing, Guilin, Xiushan, Enshi, Zunyi, Fanjingshan Mountain and etc.
Tongren Fenghuang Airport is about 35 km to Fenghuang and airport bus is now available here for Fenghuang General Bus Station. Riding time is about 1 hour and ticket price is CNY 21 Yuan.
To take a taxi from Tongren Fenghuang Airport to Fenghuang Ancient Town, it costs about CNY 150 Yuan.
Big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Wuxi, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Nanning, Ningbo, Tianjin, Qingdao, Haikou and Guiyang have direct flights for Tongren Fenghuang Airport.
To rail travelers, you will have to stop at one of the neighbouring cities such as Huaihua, Jishou, Tongren, Changsha or Zhangjiajie and transfer from train to bus to go to Fenghuang.

Fenghuang General Bus Station (凤凰汽车客运总站), which is also known as Fenghuang Chengbei Bus Station (凤凰城北汽车站) or Fenghuang North Bus Station (凤凰汽车北站), is the largest bus station in Fenghuang. To most people, it's their first destination to travel to Fenghuang.
The General Bus Station locates 3 km northwest to the Ancient Town. To travel here for the ancient town, you can take No. 1 bus and drop off at Nanhua Gate (南华门) station. Riding time is about 20 minutes and ticket price is CNY 1 Yuan. It costs about CNY 10 Yuan to travel by taxi between the bus station and the ancient town and riding time is less than 10 minutes.

The bus station has a two stroy building. The 1st floor is used as ticket office. Ticket holders can then walk up through the wheelchair accessible stairs to the waiting room on the 2nd floor to take the bus.
Once you have entered the waiting hall, you can find destination board at each boarding gate directing you to wait at the right place. The bus station has borading areas for both short distance and long distance travel.
Even though Fenghuang General Bus Station has excellent service, it's complained by some travelers saying that it has no lift to transport heavy luggage to the waiting hall on the 2nd floor.

Besides the General Bus Station, Fenghuang has another two small scale bus stations naming Fenghuang Tuotian Bus Station (沱田客运站) and Fenghuang Tuqiaolong Bus Station (土桥垅汽车站).

Tuotian Bus Station locates in the east of the Ancient Town. Tuqiaolong Bus Station is 2 km southwest to the Ancient Town and the two places are connected by No. 2 bus.
Tuotian Bus Station and Tuqiaolong Bus Station have short distance bus services only. That is, Tuotian Bus Station has buses going for Mayang County, Zhijiang County, Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town and Xuefengshan Gorge.
Tuqiaolong Bus Station has buses leaving for the South China Great Wall, Alaying Town, Huangsi Bridge Old Town and etc.
