Kunming has a very beautiful and well designed south bus station (昆明南部汽车客运站). The bus station has a remarkable location with Luosiwan International Trade City or Luosiwan Wholesale Market 500 meters to its north. Even though Kunming South Bus Station is known as the farthest bus station to the downtown, it has convenient traffic with the metro station locating outside of its front gate. It's also the junction of many routes of city buses.
Opened on December 15, 2009, Kunming South Bus Station have more than 300 daily departures transporting approximately 8,000 passengers per day.

Buses from Kunming South Bus Station mainly go for south parts of Yunnan Province. The bus station also has some international bus lines to let people travel abroad. Some of destinations are listed below:
Ninger Hani and Yi Autonomous County, Mojiang Hani Antonomous County, Jinggu Dai and Yi Antonomous County, Zhenyuan Yi, Hani and Laku Antonomous County, Jiangcheng Hani and Yi Antonomous County, Menglian Dai, Laku and Va Antonomous County, Lancang Laku Antonomous County, Ximeng Va Antonomous County, Menga, Tongguan, Ruzhadu, Nuozhadu Dam and Puer City in Puer Prefecture.
Despite of the traffic jams that are common to see near the traffic hubs, Kunming South Bus Station is well managed with comfortable travel environment. Here you can find porters pulling hand trucks here and there peddling their services. If you happen to travel with many suitcases, you can then pay and hire them.

International travelers will have to go directly to the ticket window to purchase or reserve tickets. Reason is that Kunming South Bus station sells online tickets to Chinese citizens using ID card only. Ticket vending machine doesn't sell tickets to foreigners neither as it can't read your passport. To purchase tickets from ticket windows, you should submit all passports related. Ticket sellers there don't speak English, so it's better if you can write your order details on a paper note and submit it to purchase/reserve bus tickets to minimum misunderstandings.

Bus route 154 travels from Kunming South Bus Station to Kunming Railway Station directly. Riding time is about 90 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 2 Yuan. Open time for 154 bus is from 06:00 to 21:00.
To save time, you can take Kunming Subway Line 1 to travel from Kunming South Bus Station to Kunming Railway Station. Travel time is about 25 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 4 Yuan. Open time for subway line 1 is from 06:20 to 22:20.
🚉 🚇 Kunming South Bus Station to Kunming South High Speed Railway Station:
Bus routes K40 and 170 travel from Kunming South Bus Station to Kunming South High Speed Railway Station directly. Riding time is about 80 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 2 Yuan. Open time is from 06:30 to 19:00.
Best way is to travel by subway line 1. Riding time is about 30 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 4 Yuan. Open hour for subway line 1 is from 06:20 to 23:13.

Distance from Kunming South Bus Station and Kunming Changshui International Airport is about 31 km. You can take bus route 919D to travel there directly. Ticket fare is CNY 13 Yuan. Opening time for 919D airport bus is from 06:00 to 20:00. To take a taxi to get there, it takes about 45 minutes and cost is about CNY 80 Yuan.
Another way is to take subway line 1 to Dongfeng Square and change line 3 for Kunming East Bus Station and then transfer to subway line 6 to get to the airport. Riding time is about 70 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 7 Yuan.

Bus routes 902, 927 and K39 go from Kunming South Bus Station to Kunming East Bus Station directly.
To travel by subway, you can take line 1 from the South Bus Station to Dongfeng Square firstly and then change to line 3 to get to Kunming East Bus Station. Riding time is about 50 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 5 Yuan.
🚇 Kunming South Bus Station to Kunming West Bus Station
Bus route 908 which is available from 07:00 to 19:00 goest to Kunming West Bus Station directly, ticket fare for the journey is CNY 3 Yuan.
You can also travel by subway. To do so, you should take line 1 for Dongfeng Square firstly and then change line 3 there to get to the West Bus Station. Riding time is about 1 hour and ticket price is CNY 5 Yuan.

Bus route K43 runs from the South Bus Station to the North Bus Station directly. Ticket price is CNY 5 Yuan. K43 bus operates from 06:30 to 20:00.
We would advise you travel between the two places using subway line 1 which is available from 6:20 to 23:05. Riding time is about 1 hour and ticket price is CNY 5 Yuan.
