Among the five large bus terminals, Kunming West Bus Station (昆明南部汽车客运站) is the closest station to the downtown. It's also the largest station in terms of passenger volume in Kunming. In off-seasons, it has daily departures of 400 buses transporting at least 10,000 passengers. While in travel peak periods including Spring Festival Holidays and etc. It sends at least 800 buses a day with ridership of 30,000 to 40,000 maximum.
Opened on November 15, 2009, Kunming West Bus Station is granted as a first class bus station. It's also known as Majie Bus Station.
Buses from Kunming West Bus Station mainly go for west parts of Yunnan Province. Some of its destinations are listed below:
Chuanjie, Chuxiong, Dayao, Ganhaizi, Heijing, Luoci, Luochuan, Lufeng, Mouding, Nanhua, Shuangbo, Yaoan, Yipinglang in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture.

Every day, there are large numbers of people flooding into Kunming West Bus Station to start their new journeys. Due to inefficient management, the bus station is criticized by passengers for dirty, disorderly and poor traffic conditions.

Despite of these managemental loopholes, Kunming West Bus Station still receives thousands of passengers even in an un-busy day. As a state-ownded and trustable station, you can feel ease to go there to take your bus. The bus station features:
International travelers should go directly to the ticket window to purchase your tickets. Reason is that Kunming West Bus station doesn't sell online tickets to people uing passport. To do so, you should submit all passports related to the ticket seller. Since ticket sellers there don't speak English, it's better if you can write your booking details on a paper note and submit it to purchase/reserve bus tickets in a more smart way.

Bus route 80 travels from Kunming West Bus Station to Kunming Railway Station directly from 06:00 to 22:00. Ticket fare is CNY 2 Yuan.
To travel by subway, you will have to change from line 3 to line 1 at Dongfeng Square. Riding time is about 40 minutes and ticket price is CNY 4 Yuan. Subway train is available from 06:30 to 20:30.
🚉 🚇 Kunming West Bus Station to Kunming South High Speed Railway Station:
Bus routes K41, K42, 923 and 930 travel from Kunming West Bus Station to Kunming South High Speed Railway Station directly. Riding time is about 2 hours and ticket price is CNY 2 Yuan.
Another way is to take the metro train to Dongfeng Square and there change a train on line 1 to get to Kunming South Railway Station. Riding time is about 90 minutes and ticket price is CNY 7 Yuan.
🛧 🚕 Kunming West Bus Station to Kunming Changshui International Airport:
You can take either bus or subway to travel from the west bus station to the airport of Kunming. To travel by bus, you can either pay 13 Yuan to take city bus 919B or pay 25 Yuan to take non-stop airport bus line 5 to get to the airport. Riding time for 919B is about 2 hours. It takes 1 hour to trvavel by airport bus line 5.
Another way is to take subway line 3 to Dongfeng Square firstly and then change line 1 for Kunming airport. Riding time is about 70 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 6 Yuan.
🚌🚇 Kunming West Bus Station to Kunming East Bus Station:
A train on subway line 3 can take you from the west bus station to the east bus station directly. Riding time is about 40 minutes and ticket fare is CNY 6 Yuan. It's available from 06:30 to 22:30.
🚇 Kunming West Bus Station to Kunming South Bus Station
Bus route 908 which is available from 07:00 to 19:00 running between Kunming West Bus Station and Kunming South Bus Station directly, ticket fare is CNY 3 Yuan.
You can also travel by subway. To do so, you should take line 3 for Dongfeng Square firstly and then change line 1 there to get to the South Bus Station. Riding time is about 1 hour and ticket price is CNY 5 Yuan.

We would advise you travel between the two places using the subway. That is, traveling on subway line 3 to Dongfeng Square and change to line 1 there for Kunming North Bus Station. Riding time is about 1 hour and ticket price is CNY 5 Yuan.
